Students in grades 5-8 can participate in athletics. We offer Cross Country, Football, Track and Field, Volleyball, and Basketball.
Student Leaders of Service
We have combined our Student Council and our Students of Service program. This program helps our students in grades 6-8 learn about leadership and being of service.
Our band program is offered for students in grades 5-8. We have a variety of different levels. Classes are offered before school in the morning. Our band groups perform at a winter and spring concert as well as a number of other school events.
Our school choir is open to students in grades 1-8. They meet once a week to practice and prepare for our weekly all school Masses and special events.
Students in grades 2 and up may participate in our orchestra program. Students select which instrument they want to learn to play; the violin, viola, or cello. Students receive instruction in school and participate in two concerts each year.
Math team is open to all of our students in grades 6-8. This group allows our students to come together and grow in their application of math and have fun. The team participates in a number of local contests.
The recycling club is open to all students in grades 3-8. These students show us how to care for God’s creation and ensure that our school continues to value recycling.
Battle of the Books
Students in grades 1-5 participate in the Battle of the Books every year with our championship round taking place during Catholic Schools Week. This program affords our students the opportunity to read many of today’s best titles for children and encourages a love of reading!
NATIONAL CATHOLIC ACADEMIC JUNIOR HIGH DECATHLON
In grades 7-8, we form a teams of students to participate annually in the National Catholic Academic Junior High Decathlon. Students participate in individual tests, logic quizzes, and team tests. The teams begin preparation in the fall for the competition which takes place in March.
POETRY ELOCUTION CONTEST
The month of April is dedicated to Poetry! Here at our school students in grades 1-8 participate in the poetry elocution contest. All students recite a poem in their homeroom and finalists are chosen to compete in the final round of the competition.
Scripps National Spelling Bee
Every year our students in grades 4-8 participate in the Scripps National Spelling Bee. We have our final round during Catholic Schools Week. Our school winner has the opportunity to move on to other local contests at the county and regional levels.
